as early as 1890.

(September 30th) in Coca-Cola to
Col.Howard of Rockwood, Tenn. Howard
then established the Dixie Coca-Cola
Bottling Works in a new building, with
all new equipment, on Washington St.
The old machinery is then moved to
Norton,VA. and set-up as a Coca-Cola
Bottling Company.

M.H. Rush
**difficult to imagine why Rush would sell
his Coca-Cola interests and still remain
in the bottling business.
A 1907 ad states he bottles colas.
And,is agent for Pabst Blue Ribbon beer.
1907...Holston Bottling Company
organised in new plant on Piedmont Av.
next to Peters-Goodwyn Ice Co. 
Bottlers of Dr. Pepper, Koca-Nola
and other flavored drinks.
1907...J.C. Layman Co.
begins business.

1907...Carl A. Jones,Sr.
a teller at Dominion Bank,
purchases half interest in the 
Dixie Bottling Works. Prior to this
Jones has purchased the Coca-Cola
franchise for the region.
1908...Dixie Coca-Cola Bottling Works
and  Holston Bottling Company
consolidate to form a larger company. 
**Seems Koca-Nola and Dr. Pepper
"disappeared" as a result.
 And the competition is eliminated.
